§ 62-13. Funeral processions.

  • (a)

    A funeral composed of a procession of vehicles shall be identified as such by the display upon the outside of each vehicle of a pennant or other identifying insignia.

    (b)

    Each driver in a funeral or other procession shall follow the vehicle ahead as close as is practicable and safe.

    (c)

    No driver of a vehicle shall drive a vehicle between the vehicles comprising a funeral or other authorized procession while they are in motion and when such vehicles are properly designated as required by this section.

    (d)

    Subsections (b) and (c) of this section shall not apply to funeral processions which have entered onto a highway of the national system of interstate and defense highways or other highway incorporating similar design in access control features or highways of four lanes or more. In such cases drivers of vehicles identified as provided in subsection (a) of this section shall follow driving practices common for such highways and grant other drivers adequate opportunity to enter and leave such highways in a safe manner.
