§ 9.06. Discrimination prohibited.

  • A.

    No elected official, administrator, director, or employee of Knox County shall discriminate against any person in employment or provision of services based upon race, sex, religion, age or nationality without due process of law. The Commission, by ordinance, or in the absence of ordinance, the Mayor, by executive order, may establish such processes and procedures as may be deemed necessary to carry out the provisions of this Section. The Commission shall, by ordinance or resolution, take any action which it deems appropriate to ameliorate any condition or circumstance created by, or resulting from, any one or more violations of the provisions of this Section.

    B.

    The Mayor shall designate an administrative official to:

    (1)

    enforce ordinances or resolutions adopted by the Commission pursuant to this Section;

    (2)

    review practices of the Knox County Government to insure compliance with this Section 8.06[9.06] and all applicable Federal and State laws; and

    (3)

    investigate complaints and claims of violations of this Section or of applicable State or Federal laws relating to equal employment practices.
