§ 4.01. Property Assessor.

  • The duties of the Assessor of Property are vested in and exercised by the Knox County Property Assessor. The duties, qualifications, oath of office, bond requirements and compensation of the Assessor of Property shall be governed by the Constitution and laws of the State of Tennessee and the Knox County Charter. The duties of this office shall include, but not be limited to, the responsibility of determining and recording the value of all property within the county, whether real, personal or mixed, except for the property of public utilities valued by the State; provided, however, that nothing in this section shall diminish the duties of the Office of the Property Assessor as prescribed by the General Assembly, although additional duties may be given to this office by this Charter or by Ordinance of the County Commission.
