§ 66-1. Installation of utility access equipment in road surface without Knox County consent prohibited.

  • The installation of utility access equipment, including but not limited to water shut-off valves, utility boxes, gas shut off valves and sewer manholes in the pavement of Knox County public roads, without the prior written consent of the Knox County Department of Engineering and Public Works is hereby prohibited. Utility equipment already installed on the effective date of this ordinance shall be exempt from the provisions of this section. Violation of this provision may be punished by imposition of a civil penalty of up to $1,000.00 per day, with each day that such equipment is maintained upon the public roadways without written consent of the department constituting a separate violation.
