  • The driver of a vehicle intending to turn at an intersection shall do so as follows:

    (1)

Right turns. Both the approach for a right turn and a right turn shall be made as close as possible to the righthand curb or edge of the roadway.

    (2)

Left turns. The driver of a vehicle intending to turn left at any intersection shall approach the intersection in the extreme lefthand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in the direction of travel of such vehicle, shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle approaching from the opposite direction which is within the intersection or so close thereto as to constitute an immediate hazard; and after entering the intersection, the left turn shall be made so as to leave the intersection in a lane available to traffic moving in such direction upon the roadway being entered. Whenever practicable, the left turn shall be made in that direction of the intersection to the left of the center of the intersection.

    (3)

Where official traffic control devices authorizing right or left turns from more than one lane are in place, the requirements of subsections (1) and (2) of this section shall only apply to vehicles in the extreme righthand and lefthand lanes lawfully available to traffic; vehicles in lanes adjacent to such extreme lanes shall complete turning movements as indicated by official traffic control devices.
