§ 62-59. Emergency and experimental regulations.

(a)

The director of the department of engineering and public works is hereby empowered to make and enforce temporary or experimental regulations to cover emergencies or special conditions. No such temporary or experimental regulation shall remain in effect longer than is necessary to provide a permanent solution to the specific condition it was intended to resolve.

(b)

The director of the department of engineering and public works may test traffic control devices under actual conditions of traffic.

(c)

Notwithstanding the authority of the department of engineering and public works to make temporary emergency regulations, the county sheriff's department shall be empowered to alter traffic regulations at such times and in such areas as may be necessary in an emergency to provide for the public safety.
