Chapter 38. HEALTH AND SANITATION |
Article VII. INTERACTIVE WATER AMUSEMENTS |
§ 38-222. Definitions.
ANSI means American National Standards Institute.
Approved means acceptable to the director.
Collector tank means the vessel that receives gravity flow wastewater from the spray pad.
Combined system means the joining hydraulically of an interactive amusement facility or feature system with a public swimming pool or other aquatic feature.
Critical item means those aspects of operation or conditions that if in violation, constitute significant hazards to public health and safety.
Feature system means a hydraulic system designed to provide treated water to the various devices of an interactive water amusement.
Department means the Knox County Health Department.
Director means the director of the county health department having jurisdiction over the community health in a specific area or the director's duly authorized representative.
Imminent health hazard shall be defined as any of the following:
(1)
Failure to maintain microbiological standards;
(2)
Fecal incident on spray pad or deck;
(3)
No sanitizing residual in feature water;
(4)
Sewage backup onto spray pad or into bathhouse or restroom;
(5)
Sewage contamination of re-circulation or feature water systems.
Interactive water amusement means any patron-contact artificial fountain, slide, climbing or crawling device, or similar facility that uses re-circulated water that is sprayed, dumped, misted, or discharged but does not pool.
New construction means any interactive water amusement that begins construction after the adoption of this regulation. Also, any aspect of an existing interactive water amusement that undergoes remodeling, modification, or change after the adoption of this regulation.
NSF means National Sanitation Foundation.
Permit means a written permit issued to a person who owns the interactive water amusement facility by the director authorizing the interactive water amusement to operate under this article.
PPM means parts per million (milligrams per liter).
Re-circulation system means a hydraulic system consisting of equipment to pump, filter and disinfect water.
Retroactive construction means modifications applicable to an existing interactive water amusement that must be completed within 30 days after the adoption of this regulation.
Turnover means the rate in gallons per minute calculated to completely filter the collector tank volume within 30 minutes.
