§ 38-32. Director of department.

  • (a)

    The director of the department of health shall be the administrative officer in charge of the department of health.

    (b)

    The director of the department of health shall receive a salary as set in the annual budget.

    (c)

    The director of the department of health shall possess and meet all requirements of state law to serve in such position, or shall comply with other provisions allowable under state law, to ensure the meeting of all requirements to maintain the county department of health as provided under general law.

    (d)

    The director of the department of health shall be experienced in public health administration, policies and activities and duties to a sufficient extent to ensure adequate capabilities to administer the department.

    (e)

    The director of the department of health shall have the duty and authority to oversee and supervise the operations of the department; to maintain an appropriate staff; to establish different policies and regulations for the operations of the department; to submit an annual budget in compliance with state law, county ordinances and the directions of the county executive.

    (f)

    The director of the department of health shall act in concert with, and meet all applicable policies established by, the county board of health, and such other boards required for the operation of a county health department.
