§ 2-903. Advisory service.
(a)
The following advisory service shall be offered:
(1)
The relocation officer assigned to the project will contact each person or business who is to be displaced in person (or writing, if personal contact is not feasible), will deliver a copy of this relocation policy and will attempt to determine the specific need for relocation assistance of those to be displaced.
(2)
The displaced person or business will be provided with information on the availability, price, and rentals of comparable decent, safe, and sanitary housing, including information concerning department of housing and urban development assisted housing, and of comparable commercial properties and locations for displaced businesses.
(b)
In the discretion of the relocation officer, the following advisory services may be offered:
(1)
The relocation officer may assist any displaced person or business in obtaining and becoming established in a suitable replacement location.
(2)
Other advisory services may be provided in order to minimize hardships in adjusting to a new location.
The advisory service and assistance provided under this section is intended primarily as a compilation and distribution to displaced persons of information concerning available relocation resources. Once such information is provided, it is the responsibility of the displaced person or business to utilize such information in a manner most beneficial to them. It is not the intent of this section to require the condemning authority to select which resource will be utilized by a displaced person or to negotiate with the owner of any relocation resource for the use of such resource by the displaced person.
