§ 2-901. Definitions.

  • As used in this article, the following terms shall have the following meanings:

    Advisory service: shall mean the services offered to displaced persons under section 2-903 of this article.

    Comparable housing or commercial properties: means property or facilities which are functionally equivalent to property to which it is being compared in that it performs the same function and provides the same general utility.

    Condemning authority: means Knox County.

    Displaced business: means a business which on the date of taking of possession by the condemning authority is lawfully operating on any part of the real property which is acquired.

    Displaced person: means either a displaced business or a displaced resident, as required by the context of its use.

    Displaced resident: means an individual, or group of individuals, who on the date of taking of possession by the condemning authority, are lawfully residing in any single residential unit on any part of the real property which is taken.

    Relocation assistance: shall mean those payments made by the condemning authority to a displaced person pursuant to sections 2-905 and 2-906 of this article.

    Relocation officer: shall mean a person designated by the condemning authority as having responsibility for the administration and implementation of this policy in connection with the taking of any real property.
