The probationary period shall be 12 consecutive months. A probationary employee earns
annual leave and sick leave in accordance with these policies.
Supervisors should evaluate all employees biannually during their probationary period.
The evaluation shall be in writing, signed by the employee and the supervisor, and
placed in the employee's personnel file. If the hiring authority determines that an
employee should be terminated, the employee shall be notified in writing before the
end of the probationary period. However, as an at-will employer, the county government
reserves the right to discharge employees at any time for any reason, notwithstanding
the existence of probationary periods.
