§ 2-391. Office created; appointment; duties; salary.
(a)
There is hereby created the office of assistant attorney general in all judicial circuits of this state containing a county of not less than 90,000 and not more than 100,000 population according to the federal census of 1910 or any subsequent federal census.
(b)
The attorney general of such circuits shall appoint a suitable person to such position, who shall be learned in the law, and who shall serve during the term of the attorney general. Such person so appointed by the attorney general shall not be under 27 years of age and shall be a duly licensed member of the bar of this state. The attorney general shall not appoint as an assistant attorney general any person related to the attorney general within the fourth degree either by affinity or consanguinity.
(c)
The assistant attorney general shall perform such duties as shall be assigned, as directed by the attorney general.
(d)
The assistant attorney general shall have and receive a salary of $3,000.00 per annum, payable monthly out of the treasury of the state upon the warrant of the comptroller.
