§ 2-256. Office to be separate department.

The office of medical examiner shall be a separate department of the executive branch of the county government, shall operate under the direction and authority of the duly elected county medical examiner, and shall exercise complete and absolute independence and autonomy in the exercise of the duties incumbent upon such office.
