§ 22-107. Definitions.
The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this division, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning:
Alarm system means any alarm, burglar alarm, monitoring system, or any mechanical, electrical and/or electronic system which has the primary function of detecting and/or responding to emergencies other than fire, including, but not limited to, any alarm, monitoring system, or mechanical, electrical and/or electronic system designed to record, view, monitor, protect against, avoid, or reduce the probability of personal or property loss or injury resulting from burglary, theft, shoplifting, breaking and/or entering, intrusion, pilferage, or other losses of such type.
Alarm systems contractor means any person or other business entity of any sort who sells, or attempts to sell, installs, services or monitors alarm systems.
County means unincorporated and incorporated areas of the county routinely patrolled by the county sheriff's department.
False alarm means an alarm signal to which the sheriff's department responds to with any emergency service personnel or equipment when there is no manifestation of an emergency situation requiring a response by the sheriff's department upon the sheriff's department's arrival at the scene.
Installation means the installation, maintenance, service and repair of alarm systems.
Monitoring means the monitoring and/or emergency response to alarm system signals on a 24-hour, seven days per week basis.
Scene means the location from which an alarm signal originates.
User means any person who owns, purchases, leases, contracts for, subscribes to, or otherwise obtains an alarm system, or any person in control of the premises where an alarm system is maintained.
