§ 18-165. Appointment of judge; election of successor; compensation; powers.

  • The governor shall immediately and upon the passage of chapter 166 of the Private Acts of 1931 appoint a judge for the second circuit court of the county, who shall be learned in law, not less than 30 years of age and who shall hold such office until September 1, 1932, and until his successor is elected and qualified; and at the August election in 1932, there shall be elected by the qualified voters of the county a judge of the second circuit court who shall hold his office until September 1, 1934, and until his successor is elected and qualified; and at the August election of that year, and thereafter every eight years there shall be elected by the qualified voters of the county a judge of the second circuit court of the county. The judge of the second circuit court shall receive the same salary, payable in like manner, and have and exercise the same powers as the circuit judges of this state, and may interchange with any of the judges and chancellors of the state as may be now or hereafter provided by law.
