§ 18-84. Judges' compensation.

  • The compensation of each of the judges shall be in the amount of 85 percent per annum of that of the circuit and chancery judges of the state, including any cost of living adjustments or other adjustments to judges' compensation during their term of office, payable out of the ordinary fund of the county in equal monthly installments from and after September 1, 1982. Judges shall give all of their regular working time to the duty of their office.

The base salary for a General Sessions Judge in counties of the first class (those exceeding a population of 49,000) is now set by T.C.A. § 16-15-5003(a)(1) at $70,000.00. The population of Knox County as of the 1990 census was 335,749.
